Sweetness...

I had three wonderful days with Em and Aethan.  What can I say about my incredible grandson?  He's full of love and an insatiable curiosity, he's funny, clever and makes us laugh, he's polite and caring and he's a joy to be around...all this and just three years old.  We walked the beach and Aethan braved the ocean, running along the water's edge and wading right in to help Casper get the sticks we threw (with my camera telling me to replace batteries).  My favourite times are ones in the garden with him...watering the plants and talking about bugs.  Over and over, the conversation went like this as I filled his watering can...

A: More water please, nanny.

Me: Set it on the grass and I'll fill it.

A: Thank you very much, nanny.

Me: You're welcome and thank you for watering for me.

A: You're welcome, nanny.

Several times he said, "This is a very good idea, working together, isn't it nanny."

Nanny thought it was a very good idea, indeed!

Nice...

Kristy from Vintage Pleasure, across the water in England, gave me this award and coming from her, it means so much...

Nicemattersaward_2

The award was started by Bella Enchanted and the idea is to pass it on to those who are simply nice people, good blog friends and to those who instill a positive influence in our blogging world.  How can I possibly choose?  Kristy said it was like choosing sports teams in school and I was never good at that either.  I continue to be surrounded in this blogging experience by very nice people indeed...lots of them.  Please except this award one and all.  This may be breaking the rules a teensy bit, but post the award on your blog and wear it proudly.  Kristy probably doesn't know this, but above the windows in my dining area, I wrote these words on the frame for all to read when they sit at my table...BE NICE OR LEAVE, BECAUSE NICE MATTERS.  And...it surely does!

Ship ahoy...

Here's a view of what happens when the highway meets the sea on the journey to and from my sister's...

Waiting_in_line

I sit in line with the other vehicles and hope that there's room for everyone.  Otherwise, it's a long two-hour wait for the next sailing, which isn't a big deal on a day like this...people sit in the sun and read, have a picnic lunch, walk their dogs and stand around and chat.  If it's pouring rain, well then, that's another story.

On_time

It's a lovely sight seeing the ferry pull into the dock...and right on time, too!

Homeward bound at dusk, leaving the shore behind...

Down_the_hatch

...and wondering if anyone would notice that I went looking for Jack Sparrow down the hatch.

Just_in_case

This is an old ferry that shudders and shakes, but all is safe and sound.

Homeward_bound_at_dusk

The last leg of the journey is only a few islands away and then I'm in the car on terra firma again.  It was a bon voyage.
