Holiday greetings to each and everyone of you. Your stories have inspired me, have made me laugh out loud and have taught me things I didn't know. Your writing continues to amaze and delight me and fires up my imagination. I feel thankful that you have shared the happenings of the past year with me and I'm grateful to be blessed with your friendship. I send heartfelt wishes for much love, joy and laughter in 2008 and I look forward to seeing where the New Year takes us. May we collectively hope for peace for everyone with the conscious energy we send out into the world.
Who would have ever thought that people you've only met through blogs and their photostreams on flickr would become such good friends! I've never met Kim in person...the amazing Calamity Kim...but I feel as though we get together and gab over a cuppa at least once a week. She's the maker of all things magical and I've told her on several occasions that I'm convinced she has a roomful of elves working through the night to sew, stitch, quilt, paint, cut out, glue, write, photograph, cook, clean, iron, walk the dog and create her one of a kind inspirations. Otherwise, I'm not sure how she does it all herself. She does have one special elf that I know of. His name is Fred and together, they spent several hours one night designing a new banner for me...from the goodness of their hearts. I had no idea how to make a banner and Gwen helped me get a couple of them on my blog...simple photographs that I scanned and sent to her.
Now I've got a real scene, with elves, wellies and woods and not just a few slats of green with a packing tag. Kim has no idea what the lane way behind my cottage looks like, but it's right there on the banner. See, she can weave magic. Many thanks and big hugs to Fred and Kim for my new look!
It seems like only days since Em, Adam and Aethan were here a week and a half ago and they came again on Monday. Adam's mom, Andrea flew from Ontario for her first visit to the west coast and they wanted her to have the ferry experience and to have her meet me and me meet her. I felt as though an old friend had walked through the door...she's wonderful to be with and you've got to love someone who will help themselves to tea, look in drawers to find a knife for the cheese and thinks the quirks of a tiny cottage are perfect. Naturally, a walk on the beach is a must for anyone who arrives on my doorstep and the day couldn't have been better for this time of year...no rain, no wind, calm ocean and brilliant blue sky as the backdrop.
It gave mom and son a chance to catch up...
The dogs relished the extra hands throwing balls...
Aethan picked up rocks and walked with his nanny, chatting the whole time, a wonderful sound that I can't get enough of...
Two shadows of two great people blended together on the sand...
...while a gull gave new meaning to "a bird's eye view" as it watched us from the top of a totem pole.
Welcome to the coast, Andrea and I can't wait for you to make a return visit!
* all photo credits go to Em...she had the foresight to take the camera
It snowed all day and the proof is in the pudding...
This evening, the snow has turned to rain and this blanket of white won't last long It was just long enough for a few photographs, for two dogs to chase snowballs and no chance to hibernate with a good book. Life will be back to normal in the morning.
