Teapot in the Garden
I love this blue teapot. It hangs in the garden. What started out as one, a tribute to a wonderful lady I knew who was the inspiration by hanging a cracked spouted old English pot in her knarly crab apple tree, quickly grew into my collection of 30! Apparently little wrens will build their nests in these ready-made homes. There's Japanese, Chinese, enamelled, handmade and plain out there
, but all were lidless thrift store finds for a dollar or less. A few have been added by visiting friends and neighbours (discovered one when I bonked my head on it and it was days before I found out who put it there). My niece loves to walk around the garden counting them and playing "spot the new pot". The obvious question used to be, "Do you have any wrens nesting yet?", but now it's just, "Do any birds use them at all?" Nope, but they sure look pretty!
